MOULTRIE, Ga. — A Colquitt County man was arrested early Friday morning after police responded to a domestic dispute witnessed by two of the couple’s children.
Colquitt County E-911 dispatched a deputy at 2:25 a.m. to the 596 Tree Farm Road residence.
There, Tonya Bynum told police that her husband had slammed her head against a toilet, choked her and hit her with a spray insecticide can. During the incident he threw a cell phone at a window, breaking both, she said.
Two children at the residence also gave a detailed description of what happened, police said, while a third went into a bedroom during the dispute.
A second deputy made a traffic stop of a Chrysler 300 in which William Bryan Bynum was a passenger, police said. His 16-year-old son was driving the car, and the children and Tonya Bynum told police that William Bynum had been drinking beer.
Tonya Bynum suffered scratch marks around her neck and had swelling to her ankle, which she said occurred while she was trying to get away from her attacker, police said. She recently had surgery on that ankle.
Police charged William Bynum, 39, with battery, criminal trespass and three counts cruelty to children.
