MOULTRIE, Ga. — For a second day law enforcement refused to release information about a roundup of multiple suspects in a Tuesday operation.
At about 5 a.m. Tuesday more than 110 officers fanned out across the county, with reports of raids on Sylvester Drive and near the Moultrie Y, among others.
As of Wednesday evening no booking reports were available concerning the arrests.
A Moultrie-Colquitt County Drug Enforcement Team official referred questions to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Sylvester office.
A reporter who called that office was told that the contact person for the operation was the spokeswoman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Georgia located in Macon.
Brad Shealy, chief assistant district attorney for the Southern Judicial Circuit that includes Colquitt County, said that the operation was spearheaded by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency and that the GBI informed him that the U.S. attorney’s spokeswoman would be the contact person.
Contacted on her cell phone the spokeswoman apologized but said that she had “no information to provide.” She also could not say when any information on the operation might be available through her office.
