New pastor arrives at First Methodist Church

MOULTRIE, Ga. — Moultrie First Methodist Church announced this week that the South Georgia Conference has appointed the Rev. Stephen Grantham to serve as the church’s new pastor.
Grantham and his wife Sheri have come to Moultrie after having served for the last 12 years at Centerville United Methodist Church in Houston County.

While Grantham has assumed the pulpit, his wife has embarked upon the job of the churches’ new kindergarten teacher, according to a press release from the church. Mrs. Grantham has a background in school psychology and special education and taught kindergarten cit Centerville for many years.
Rev. Grantham is the son of the Rev. Rudolph and Mary Grantham. His father served as a United Methodist pastor in numerous churches across the state, and many years in Savannah, until his death in 1985.
His mother was an educator until her retirement in 1995. Rev. Grantham’s wife is the former Sharon Douglas of Tift County, where her parents still reside. They were married in July of 1985 and have two daughters, Sarah Inzetta, who was just married in June and resides in Crawford County, and Rebecca, who works at the UGA Tifton Campus and attends Georgia Military College in Valdosta.
Rev. Grantham graduated from high school in Savannah in 1977 and began his college at Armstrong State College. He graduated cum laude with an SA in psychology from LaGrange College in 1981. From there he attended the seminary at the Candler School ofTheology of Emory University graduating in May 1984.
Since 1982 he has served the South Georgia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church at nine prior appointments largely in Middle Georgia.

Moultrie First Methodist has a contemporary service on Sundays at 9 a.m. in the chapel, followed by Sunday school classes at 10 a.m., and a traditional service at 11 a.m. in the sanctuary.
