MOULTRIE, Ga. — While police continued searching for a suspect in a Saturday morning shooting, the victim was himself arrested on Wednesday, four days after being shot in the face with a shotgun.

Monterrius Dupree Haynes, 31, was booked into Colquitt County Jail in connection with a June 2 domestic incident. Police said that Haynes had small-caliber bullets lodged in his head and right elbow as a result of a May 19 shooting in the same location where police were dispatched on Saturday.

Police have issued arrest warrants for 22-year-old Darren Savon Huntley on a charge of aggravated assault in connection with Saturday’s shooting.

Huntley is not a stranger to police, who charged him in the May 11, 2013, non-fatal shooting of 25-year-old Brenton Miller. Miller was shot twice while parked in the daytime in his car on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive outside Forest Creek Apartments. In December of that year, Huntley was arrested in another county and returned to Colquitt County, where he was charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Huntley pleaded guilty to aggravated assault, with prosecutors dismissing the second charge in the plea arrangement, according to Colquitt County Superior Court records.

On Feb. 14, 2014, Superior Court Harry J. Altman II  sentenced Huntley to two years in the Colquitt County Correctional Institution, 10 years’ probation and fined him $2,000.

Huntley has no other felony convictions.

In the case that sent Haynes to jail, he is accused of beating an ex-girlfriend at her residence.

Wy’shauna Allen, 26, reported that shortly before 3 a.m. June 2 Haynes came to her residence after calling her to say he wanted to pick up his belongings from her residence in the 1700 block of Fourth Street Southeast. When he arrived he was upset and appeared to be intoxicated.

Allen told police that after she placed a basket of Haynes’ clothes outside the residence she turned around and he hit her. He then started picking up items inside the residence and using them as weapons.

Allen said that she was hit in the back with a chair from the kitchen table and in the head with her baby’s high chair, police said. After hiding in a closet as advised by a 911 dispatcher after her assailant went out the back door, he came back inside and attacked her again, pulling out her hair and punching and kicking her.

He then broke her cell phone in half.

Police said that Allen had swelling around an eye and a bloody and busted lip.

Police charged Haynes with battery, obstructing or hindering a law enforcement officer and criminal trespass in connection with that incident.
