MOULTRIE, Ga. — A Pavo woman accused of making withdrawals totaling more than $1,000 on her former roommate’s debit card has been charged with multiple counts of fraud.

Tiphani Beckham told police that she had allowed her roommate at a residence in the 500 block of Tallokas Trail on one occasion to use her card to purchase cigarettes. Beckham later learned that someone had used the card to make cash withdrawals from her account on several occasions.

“They had a parting of ways,” Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office Inv. Austin Cannon said of Beckham and Jaclyn Dana Johnson. “Later when Mrs. Beckham went to her account summary she found there had been cash withdrawals on her bank card.”

Police also believe that after moving out Johnson applied for and received a credit card in Beckham’s name, Cannon said.

“She got a credit card and began to use it on several occasions and in multiple counties,” he said.

Johnson, 29, 1444 Freeman Road, Pavo, has been charged with six counts of felony financial transaction card fraud. She could face additional charges of identity fraud related to the use of the fraudulent credit card in other counties, Cannon said.
