MPD to celebrate Police Week with picnic, public interaction

MOULTRIE, Ga. — The Moultrie Police Department will kick off National Police Week with a picnic in the park 3-6 p.m. Sunday, May 15, at the Ryce Center Park on Seventh Street Northwest in Moultrie. The public is invited.

Throughout the week, officers will be recognized for their hard work and dedication, according to a press release from the police department.

On Tuesday, May 17, a balloon release will honor the families of law enforcement officers at 10 a.m. at Knuck McCrary Park, behind Wal-Mart.

Also on Tuesday, the public is invited to meet with officers in an informal setting 6-8 p.m. at Dairy Queen on First Avenue Southeast. The event will be similar to the Coffee with a Cop held April 29.

While it is not part of the National Police Week events, the public is also invited to the Fallen Heroes ceremony sponsored by the MPD at 10 a.m. Friday, May 13, on the Courthouse Square.
