MOULTRIE, Ga.  — Trudie Hill, District 1 representative on the Colquitt County Board of Education, was recently named to the 2016 Georgia School Boards Association Government Operations Committee.

The GSBA president annually makes appointments to this committee after deliberation with the staff and Board of Directors. Hill served on the same committee last year.

As a member of the GOC, Hill represents not only the local school board but the interests of all of Georgia’s school boards, according to a press release from the Colquitt County School System.

Duties of the Governmental Operations Committee include voting on the recommendations for legislative positions submitted by the GSBA membership and offering its recommendations to the GSBA Delegate Assembly during the 2016 Summer Conference.

At the Delegate Assembly, one voting delegate from each local school board votes on the GOC recommendations, and the resulting document of GSBA legislative positions becomes the cornerstone, which guides GSBA efforts for the coming year.

On March 21, the Colquitt County Board of Education voted unanimously for Hill to serve as a delegate/legislative liaison to represent the board at the 2016 Georgia School Board Association Summer Conference & Delegate Assembly, which will be held June 10-11 in Savannah.

“Mrs. Hill takes her responsibility to the students and to the community of Colquitt County very seriously,” said Colquitt County School Superintendent Samuel DePaul. “She is an advocate for students and a shining example of giving back to one’s community through public service.”

“It is indeed an honor to be considered for this position,” Hill said. “I am looking forward to serving on the Georgia School Board Association’s Governmental Operations Committee and accepting all the responsibilities that have been entrusted to me.”
