Pershaun Fann strikes out 11 in Southwest Georgia Insurance win

MOULTRIE — Pershaun Fann struck out 11 batters in four innings to lead Southwest Georgia Insurance to an 11-1 Midget League win over Southwest Georgia Bank on Monday at the Magnolia Sports Complex.

Fann also had two hits as Southwest Georgia Insurance raised its record to 5-0.

Drew Johnson had two hits and Neko Fann and Caleb Hannah each had one for Southwest Georgia Insurance.

Also in the Midget League on Monday, Zaxby’s scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to defeat Mobley Plant 8-7.

Mobley Plant had scored six runs in the top of the fourth inning to take a 7-2 lead.

The winning run scored when a Zaxby’s batter was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.

Winning pitcher Abraham Daniels and Hayes Lightsey each went 3-for-3 for Zaxby’s, now 4-0. Cam Cook, Ryder Griffin and Joseph Reed each had one hit for the winners.

Eli Rountree hit a home run and Mason Bass had a single for Mobley Plant.

Hutchinson-Traylor moved its Midget League record to 3-1 by shutting out Ameris 9-0 on Monday.

Cole Whatley was the winning pitcher. Cannon Whatley went 3-for-3 with a home run, Justin Sinclair had two hits and Brock Weaver, Drew Watson, Matthew Hinson, Jar’Dae Williams and Andrew Eubanks each had one hits for Hutchinson-Traylor.

Chasyn Miley had a hit for Ameris.

Moultrie Heating and Cooling pounded Goodno Electric 20-3 to notch its first Midget League win on Monday. Will Snipes got the win. Snipes, Braidon Kelley, Chaz Odom, Aaron Castleberry, Will McQueen, Jake Tucker and Daniel Durrence each had two hits and Joshua Burham and Cameron Summerlin each had one for Moultrie Heating and Cooling.

Jacob Brightwell, Bryce Monk, Michael Clark and Will Robbins each had a hit for Goodno Electric.

In Farm League action on Monday, Lazarus defeated Mobley Plant 12-4 to remain unbeaten at 4-0.

Mason Moore, Brayden Bell, Luke Ellerbee, Andrew Stickland and Cade Odom each had two hits for Lazarus.

Walker Burgess, Landon Thomas and Jaxon Chamber each had two for Mobley Plant.

Southwest Georgia Bank edged Rocky’s 11-9 in Monday’s other Farm League game.

Adam Beverly, Cook Tompkins and Za’Mari Williams each had two hits for Southwest Georgia Bank.

Asher Cox, Stefan Reynolds, Landen Baker and Jason Howard each had three hits and Jacob Holton had two for Rocky’s.

In Tiny Mites on Monday, Quality Employment defeated Stone’s 17-0 and Jay Strickland Motors blanked Holman Supply  8-0.

In the opening night of Church League softball on Monday, it was Heritage 16, Trinity 5; Heritage 10, Mount Olive 9; Ione 20, Temple 0 and COGOP 11, First Baptist 5.
