Traffic stop results in multiple charges

A Tuesday morning traffic stop resulted in the seizure of suspected cocaine and marijuana as well as a gun believed to be stolen.
Moultrie police stopped a 2007 Dodge Nitro driven by Leroy Valdez at about 9:25 a.m. near the intersection of Second Street and Sixth Avenue Southeast, according to Moultrie Police Department reports.

“Valdez was stopped after we received information about the (probable) sale of meth,” police Inv. Freddie Williams said. “During a traffic stop a search resulted in finding marijuana, crystal meth and a stolen firearm.”
Williams said the suspected methamphetamine weighed about 8 grams.
Valdez, 36, 803 Third St. N.W., was charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, theft by receiving stolen property, driving while license suspended and failure to drive within single lane.
In other arrests:
• Virginia Loretta Pineda, 48, Albany, was charged March 13 with false statements or writings and false report of a crime.
Pineda is accused of making a report of a robbery that never occurred. She reported that she was robbed of about $1,800 in the Wal-Mart parking lot at 641 Veterans Parkway S.

A review of video from the parking lot showed that Pineda was not robbed, Williams said.
“We did a little investigation and determined she was making a false report of a crime,” he said.
• Gary Alvarus Thomas Jr., 23, 1 Norman St., was charged Thursday with possession of marijuana and two counts obstruction of a police officer.
• Roderick Morgan, 21, 151 Alley Ave., Rochelle, Ga., was charged Wednesday with interference with government property.

Thefts
Moultrie Police
• Bert Brown, 48, Moultrie, reported Tuesday the theft of a set of boy’s golf clubs, including Ping iron, valued at $4,620 from the club room of Sunset Country Club, 2730 S. Main St.
• Daniel Land, 28, Moultrie, reported Wednesday the theft of Samsung Galaxy S4 phone valued at $266 from his work place in the 400 block of Veterans Parkway North.
• Tywana Ponder, 600 block Northside Drive, reported Tuesday the theft of her daughter’s dirt bike that is valued at $440.
• Trixie Steele, 400 block First Avenue Southeast, reported March 13 the theft of a cell phone valued at $20.
• William Green, 700 block Third Avenue Southeast, reported March 13 the theft of prescription medication.
Green told police that a man and woman came to his residence and that the woman took the medicine when she used the bathroom.
• Fred’s, 2601 S. Main St., reported March 12 that a man concealed merchandise inside his jacket and left when confronted.
An employee told police that the man was wearing a gray and black jacket with the word “Brooklyn” printed on it. After walking out he left on a bicycle that was spray painted blue.
The employee could not immediately determine what had been stolen.
• Wing Shop, 1004 First Ave. S.E., reported March 11 that someone has been stealing used grease from a tank.
An employee told police that the last two times a grease removal company has come to make up a pick up the tank has been empty.
Burglary
Moultrie Police
• Northside Cleaners, 732 First St. N.E., reported March 11 the theft of a refrigerator belonging to Audrey Blount from a self-storage unit.
An employee did not know whether any other property was taken. The value of the refrigerator was unknown.
A lawn mower also was taken from the unit, police said. The value of the lawn mower also was unknown.
• Dewayne Rushing, 1100 block Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, reported March 11 the theft of a 9 mm pistol of unknown value.
Rushing told police that someone pushed his window air conditioner onto the ground and climbed in his bedroom window to enter the residence.

Moultrie Police
• Matthew Bridges, 900 block Second Street Southeast, reported March 13 the theft of three rifles valued at a total of $3350 out of a 2002 Ford F-150.
Battery
Moultrie Police
• Erica Daniels, 42, Moultrie, reported Tuesday that a male acquaintance grabbed her and tussled with her when she told him that she no longer wanted to date him.
She did not wish to press charges.
The man, who was intoxicated, agreed to go home, police said.
• Haley Reynolds, Moultrie, reported March 11 that a man attacked Taylor Gay in the 1700 block of Highway 37 East.
Neither Gay nor the alleged assailant were there when police arrived.
Property damage
Moultrie Police
• Nicole McNeal, 600 block Seventh Avenue Northwest, reported March 12 that the passenger side mirror was broken off her 2000 Nissan Maxima.
McNeal told police it was the second time someone has damaged the car in a two-week period.
• Sheree Redden, 700 block Sixth Street Northwest, reported March 12 that her car was vandalized overnight.
There was a white powder that appeared to be sugar around the fuel tank and inside the fuel cap, police said.
Redden told police that someone damaged the car, as well as neighbors, throughout the week.
A neighbor, Tammy Donaldson, also reported that a truck had been damaged.

Moultrie Police
• Martin Cabanas, 27, Tifton, reported Tuesday that a women broke a window of a residence in the 800 block of Ninth Avenue Southeast and was sleeping in a bed when he went inside.
He told police that he tried to take a photo, but the woman covered her face. She left walking toward Seventh Avenue Southeast.
The damage to the residence was less than $500, police said.
• Stadium Cinemas 6, 495 Hampton Way, reported March 12 an incident of public indecency in one of the theaters involving a man and an apparent underage girl.
