A thief who distracted a county resident by asking for toilet paper apparently decided to take advantage of the generosity by making off with a leaf blower. Quinn Wetherington, of the 5400 block of Lower Meigs Road, reported that a man in a silver Chevrolet Silverado showed up at his residence at about 11:35 a.m. on Feb. 27.
The man asked Wetherington whether he had found a lost wallet out by the roadway and then asked for a roll of toilet paper.
While Wetherington went inside the thief loaded a leaf blower that was on the carport onto the bed of the truck. He took the toilet paper and left.
Wetherington realized on Monday that the Ryobi leaf blower, valued at $100, was missing.
