FT. WALTON BEACH, Fla. — Lillian Truett Chestnut, 89, of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., formerly of Moultrie, was carried to her Heavenly home on the wings of angels at 12:15 a.m. on Friday, February 12, 2016 at Westwood Healthcare Center in Fort Walton Beach Fla. She was surrounded by her “most prized possessions,” her daughters, Annette and Kay.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, February 15, 2016 at Cobb Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in Cobb-Suncrest Memorial Gardens.
Lillian was born in Moultrie, Georgia, on August 21st, 1926. She married Milton Chestnut on September 2nd, 1943. After Milton’s military retirement, they moved back to Moultrie. Due to the onset of health issues in 2011, she went to stay with her daughters.
Lillian has been a member of Moultrie First Church of The Nazarene since 1943. She loved the Lord, and it was evident in everything she did. Her motto for life was simple: “My hope is to make someone’s day a little brighter, their load a little lighter, and have them see Christ in me.” This was very apparent during her stay at Westwood Nursing Facility & Rehab Center. She will be most remembered for her prayers, smile, and pretty blue eyes. Although she often spoke in a Heavenly language that only God understood, residents and staff knew it was a prayer language. There was a constant spiritual presence in her room. She was loved by many staff members and residents.
In Heaven, Lillian joins her husband, Milton Chestnut; her parents, B. F. and Edna Truett; brothers, Harvey (Myrtice) and Paul Truett; sisters, Catherine White (Clint), Louis Strickland (Carl), Mildred Mercer (Paul), and son-in-law, Jerry Green.
She is survived by her daughters, Annette (Patrick) Hendrickson and Kay Green; grandchildren, Kimberly (Jeff) Kennedy, Jerry (Stacy) Green, Jeff (Chrystal) Green; Great grandchildren, Chandler, Lauren, Sydney, Chloe, Luke, and Riley; sister in law, Mary Nell Truett.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Monday, February 15, 2016 at Cobb Funeral Chapel.
