MOULTRIE – Robert Beasley Ivey, 72, of Moultrie, died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2016, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.
A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Mark Addington officiating. Honorary casketbearers will be Dan Davis, Robbie Costin, Al Cornelius, Ken Jarvis, William Ivey, Bobby Baxter, Bill Lange, Joe Maddox, and Dr. John Beaty.
Born June 12, 1942, in Macon, he was the son of the late Tom Hall Ivey and Mattie Simmons Ivey. He attended Lanier High School in Macon and later graduated Willingham High School from in Macon. In 1962 he graduated from Southern Tech and worked from 1963 to 1964 at Republic Steel and then moved to Moultrie in 1968 and worked for Riverside Manufacturing Company as an industrial engineer and also worked for Warner Brothers Garment Manufacturing Company. Mr. Ivey did consultant work for several manufacturing companies in Mexico, Dominican Republic, and Belize, and in 1973 he established Ivey Manufacturing Company in the towns of Moultrie, Thomasville, and Pavo. His family remembers how he was an avid golfer, Colquitt County Packer fan, FSU Seminole fan and was an avid follower of politics. His family and friends will always remember him for his sense of humor and countless tales of entertainment.
He was preceded in death by his son, Renwick B. Ivey and brother, Rev. Tom Ivey.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Mary Catharine Boyd Ivey of Moultrie; two sons, Robert Beasley Ivey Jr. and Aisha of Tallahassee, Fla., and Russell Bradford Ivey and Daniela of Tampa, Fla.; six grandchildren, Ross Ivey and Chelsey, Rae Ivey, Braley Ivey, Taylor Ivey, Isabella Ivey, and Luke Ivey; and one great-grandchild, Luna Grace Ivey.
The family will greet friends after the memorial service on Saturday at Cobb Funeral Chapel.
