Embracing true spirit of the season

A word of applause to the carrier crew of The Moultrie Observer as well as our subscribers.
Just a few days ago, The Observer sponsored a food drive in our community in which our carriers collected non-perishable items from our subscribers.
More than 1,200 pounds of food was brought and presented to the Colquitt County Food Bank.
This is the second year we have sponsored this drive and again we found overwhelming support.
Such giving to such a viable cause illustrate the many kind hearts that make up our community.
Such attitude is shown in many venues. When a need is cited, our public responds with much generosity.
Our food bank has served thousands of needy, hungry people since its inception many years ago. Keep in mind that it is manned by volunteers which further underlines the giving spirit of Colquitt County.
It would probably take a full edition of our newspaper to describe the many charitable efforts of our citizenry.
Just recently our United Way goal of $500,000 was reached. United Way is a very large umbrella that helps fund many local charitable projects.
Once again, applause to our carriers for bringing in these food donations and to our subscribers who responded in such magnitude. You have embraced the true spirit of Christmas.
