MACON, Ga. – Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Warren Plowden Jr. of Macon, Ga., announce the engagement of their daughter Mary Elisabeth Plowden to Dr. Georgios Antonios Poultsides of Palo Alto, Calif., son of Dr. and Mrs. Antonios Lazaros Poultsides of Volos, Greece.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Carter Fincher of Doerun, Ga., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Warren Plowden, Sr. of Bainbridge, Ga. She graduated from Stratford Academy in Macon, Ga., and was a 1998 Bons Hommes presentee. She received an A.B. in History, magna cum laude, from Princeton University where she was a member of Cottage Club and Pi Beta Phi sorority. She obtained a Master of Business Administration degree from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. She is employed with J. P. Morgan in San Francisco.

The groom-elect is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Georgios Panagiotis Economou of Volos, Greece and the late Mr. and Mrs. Lazaros Anastasios Poultsides of Larisa, Greece. A graduate of the 2nd Lyceum of Volos, Greece, he received a MD from the University of Athens School of Medicine in Athens, Greece. He completed a general surgery residency at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and then completed fellowships in surgical oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and hepato-pancreato-biliary surgery at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine where he was an instructor in surgery. He is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Stanford University School of Medicine in Stanford, Calif.
A November wedding is planned at the Greensboro First United Methodist Church in Greensboro, Ga.
