Michael Ben McKellar

NORMAN PARK — Michael Ben Mckellar, 50, died Tuesday, July 7th, 2015, at Tift Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, July 10, at Baker Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Voyles officiating. Casketbearers include Cash Lowry, Jake Ray, T.J. McKellar, Avery McKellar, Scott Miller, B.J. McKellar, and honorary casketbearers George Owens and Darrell Kennedy. Interment will follow at Wrights Chapel Cemetery in Worth County. 

Born in Moultrie on April 6, 1965, he was the son of Ben D. McKellar and Shirley Alexander McKellar, of Norman Park. 

Mr. McKellar was formerly employed with Movers Plus, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Norman Park. 

Survivors include one son, Michael Ben “B.J.” McKellar, Jr. and wife Marlen, of Statesboro, Ga.; one brother, Terry McKellar, of Norman Park, Ga.; three sisters, Kay Lowry, Vicki Kennedy and husband Darrell, of Norman Park, Ga., and Suzanne Ray and husband Tim, of Ellijay, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews. 

Visitation will be July 9, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

MOULTRIE – Hilda Vernette Moore, 65, of Moultrie, died July 1, at her residence.

Mary Lee Boston

OMEGA – Mary Lee Boston, 82, of Omega,  departed this life July 7, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 1, at Simmons Grove Baptist Church at 2:30 p.m. with committal services to follow in Omega City Cemetery. A repast will conclude at the church social hall.

Joyce G. Thompson

MULBERRY, Fla. – Joyce G. Thompson of Mulberry, Fla., died on June 24, 2015.

She was born on Sept. 22, 1935, in Colquitt County, and moved to Florida in 1960.

Mrs. Thompson worked many years as a restaurant manager as well as in Polk County Transportation. “She loved her husband, her children and gardening.” the family said.

Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her husband, Medford ‘Doc’ Thompson; one son, James Michael Thompson; parents, John Sr. and Clara (Holden) Gatlin; and one brother John Gatlin.

Survivors include her brother James B. Gatlin ( Betty), of McClenny, FL; sons, Donnie (Jan) and David Thompson, both of Moultrie, Ga., Randall Thompson, of Bradenton, Fla, and Dana Thompson (Mark) Wellington; one daughter, Vicki (Jose) Negron, of Mulberry, Fla.; and sisters in law, Mildred Thompson, JoAnn Thompson, and Dorothy Thompson, of Moultrie, Ga., Betty Jean Gatlin of Avon Park, Fla; and eleven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Memorial Service will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 11, at Southside Baptist Church in Mulberry, FL.

In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to Southside Baptist Church, 250 Moses St., Mulberry, FL, 33860.

Sylvester ‘Rickey’ Hill

MOULTRIE – Funeral services for Mr. Sylvester “Rickey” Hill, 58, of Moultrie, will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2015, at 11 a.m. at the Live Oak Missionary Baptist Church in Moultrie, with Pastor John W. Green officiating.  Burial will follow in the Westview Cemetery in Moultrie.  

Viewing and visitation will be held on Friday, July 10, 2015 between the hours of 2 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. at the Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home in Quitman, Ga.

Roger Dale Sellers 

MOULTRIE- Roger Dale Sellers, 61, of Moultrie, died Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at his home.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Sunday, July 12, 2015, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. James “Shot” Sellers officiating.  Interment will follow in Sardis Cemetery. 

Casketbearers will be Donnie Sellers, Sammie Stripling, Danny Sellars, Billy Sellars, Shane Sellars, and Shawn Sellars.

Born June 12, 1954 in Moultrie, he was the son of the late Raymond Dale Sellers and Sally Ruth Mason Sellers.  He was a retired truck driver with Firestone Tire and Rubber and was a member of Grace Freewill Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Lynn Hammersla Sellers, of Moultrie, Ga.; one son, Raymond D. Sellers, of Moultrie, Ga.; two daughters, Cassandra Hargraves and Kimberly Lynn Sellers, both of Moultrie, Ga.; two brothers, Randy Sellers and wife April and Ricky Sellers, all of Moultrie, Ga.; and six grandchildren, Taylor McMurphy, Tanner Hargraves, Caleb Hargraves, T.J. Tomblin, Ariana Tomblin, and Gabbi Braswell.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service on Sunday at Cobb Funeral Chapel.
