Colquitt girls softball teams to face off on Monday

Libby Wetherington slides home safely with a run in the 7-8 Colquitt County All-Stars 27-8 victory over Crisp County on Saturday in the District III tournament at the Jim Buck Goff Recreation Complex.

MOULTRIE — The two Colquitt County teams entered in the GRPA District III Flea softball tournament at the Jim Buck Goff Complex will meet at 5:45 p.m. Monday in the final winners bracket game.

In the Flea tournament, the Colquitt County All-Stars defeated Crisp County 27-4 and Bainbridge 16-3 to advance.

In the win over Crisp County, Libby Wetherington, Maris Hopper and Kale Schofill each scored five runs; Jessie Eunice and Ansley Jackson each scored three; and Chandler Horne and Ella Lowry each scored two.

Against Bainbridge, Jackson scored three runs and Wetherington, Hopper, Schofill and Lowry each scored twice.

The Colquitt County Pink Packers won over Lee County 21-9 and received a forfeit against Sumter County.

Against Lee County, Skylar Snipes, Kiely Moses and Kayden Price each scored three runs and RaJayla McBride, Ki’Myra Crawford Emily Holweger and Raley Merritt each scored two runs.

The two Colquitt County teams will meet at 5:45 p.m., with the winner advancing to the 6 p.m. Tuesday championship game.

Playing for the Heath Wetherington-coached All-Stars are Jessie Eunice, Layla Hinson, Mahogany Hooks, Maris Hopper, Chandler Horne, Ansley Jackson Ella Lowry, Bailey Parker, Kale Schofill, Ada Sutton and Libby Wetherington.

Playing for Don Price’s Pink Packers are Ki’Myra Crawford, Ava Haymons, Emily Holweger, Raley Merritt, RaJayla McBride, A’Ziah McNeal, Kiely Moses, Kayden Price, Sa’Quavevia Reynols, Skylar Snipes and Montana Tatum.

The Midget girls tournament, which features a team each from Colquitt County, Grady County, Thomasville YMCA and Lee County, also started on Saturday in Moultrie.

Colquitt County won its first two games, defeating Tift County 15-0 and Grady County 10-6.

Against Tift County, Sarah Harrell scored three runs and Kylie Davis, Abeny Thomas, Graci Long, Kyla Morris and Jade Horne each scored two runs.

Davis scored two runs in the win over Grady County.

The Midget All-Stars will face Lee County in the final winners bracket game at 5:45 p.m. Monday.

The 12-and-under  Midget all-stars are coached by Jennifer Van Dyke.

Her roster includes Kaylee Barwick, Maci Bryant, Abbigail Bullard, Kylie Davis, Jadan Harrell, Sarah Harrell, Jade Horne, Graci Long, Kyla Morris Abby Plymel and Abeny Thomas.

The two-team District III Junior tournament will be played in Moultrie beginning at 5:45 p.m. Monday.

Colquitt County’s 13-14 Junior all-stars, coached by Steve Wilkes, include Kahleah Anderson, Olivia Chatman, Brooke Evans, Jana Hall, Karalee Holton, Laura Oliver, Brittany Perry, Chloe Sumner, Amalee Tucker, Brooke Wilkes and Don’Taysha Wilson.

Colquitt County has two teams in the Mite tournament, which is being played in Cordele.

Colquitt County Black won its two Saturday games, beating Crisp County 17-2 and Grady County 24-9.

Colquitt’s Mite Black team will meet Thomasville at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the last winners bracket game.

The Mite Gold team dropped its opener to Thomasville 15-14, then beat Tift County 17-6 in it first losers bracket game.

The Mite 10-and-under Black all-star team coached by Craig Perryman includes Emily Allegood, Amber Brown, Julia Duncan, Gabbi Long, Abby Nobles, Gracie Belle Paulk, Elle Perryman, Madison Plymel, Katlynn Powers, Ka’Lise Richardson and Jacey Wetherington.
