Rants and Raves

Go figure!

“Yep, we can put man on the moon, rebuild a person’s heart, read a car tag from a satellite. But we can’t build a speaker system for a drive-thru at a restaurant that doesn’t sound like eggs frying or a drunk mumbling. Go figure!

I’m glad

“It’s been a while since Moultrie has had a player in the NFL. And I’m glad we are represented by a young man with the class of Cameron Erving. His success also speaks of a quality football program here in Colquitt County. Applause to all of those involved.

A bit curious

“I’m all for the round-a-bout at the Rich Oil intersection. But I am curious as to how the traffic flow will be handled during construction given that this is one of the busiest intersections in the city.

A ride in the country

“If you get bored, take a ride out in the country and view our countryside. It’s beautiful. Vegetables are being harvested and crops are being planted. Makes me glad to be in South Georgia and specifically in Colquitt County.

Cops issue

“I am getting sick of the saying ‘there are good cops and bad cops’. Okay, so where are the good cops to stop the bad cops from beating women in custody? Shooting people in the back while they are running away and kids. Oh yeah, good cops already, good at keeping their traps shut and harassing citizens.

Applause

“Applause to Wayne Grandy of The Moultrie Observer sports department for all the many stories uplifting the activities of our young people. I grew up seeing my photo and stories about my athletic accomplishments in this newspaper. Then I saw those of my children. And now my grandchildren their day in the spotlight. Our family albums are rich with stories and photos in our local newspaper. Once again, many thanks.

“Yes, we do need to respect each other but we still have to have laws, regulations and enforcement for those who do not and will not grasp that concept. Thanks for allowing us this column to express ourselves in short order.

In response

“After hearing so much about that intersex thing I went back and read that story from several weeks ago. To be honest, I had never given the matter much thought. But thanks to that story quoting doctors and families I now have a much better understanding. As well, I’ve done some research on my own and I was surprised that this issue is much greater than I would have thought.

Country boy

“To that person who said he doubted Mr. Walden was the country boy that he proclaimed to be in his columns, I’ve known him all his life. I can assure you he speaks from whence he came.
