Thieves have a big weekend

Weekend thefts totaled more than $30,000, with thieves making off with property that included fishing tackle, a shotgun, bicycles, a TV from a hotel room and a can of beer.

In Moultrie, police responded to burglaries including one in which Robert Goldstein, of the 2400 block Fifth Avenue Southeast, reported Friday that property and cash valued more than $19,000 had been taken.

In other burglaries:

• Dennie Bassham, 300 block 11th Avenue Southwest, reported Wednesday the theft of property valued at $2,010 was taken during a break-in of a shed.

•  Virginia Newsome, Moultrie, reported a theft of property valued at $6 at the 500 block 27th Street Southeast residence of Robert Gibson.

• Johnny Linder, 1500 block Fourth Avenue Northeast, reported Friday that a window of his apartment was broken and property valued at $1,631 taken.

Sheriff’s Office

• Virgil Crosby reported Saturday a burglary at a residence in the 600 block of Highway 133 North owned by Patrick Barker.

Crosby reported the theft of property valued at $6,400 that included fishing rods and reels and a Stihl chainsaw.

• Nat Jackson, 700 block U.S. Highway 319 South, reported Saturday that a jar of coins was stolen from his daughter’s bedroom but found in the back yard.

Thefts

Moultrie Police

• Police investigated a report of four shoplifters at Wal-Mart, 641 Veterans Parkway South.Property valued at $50 was stolen but was recovered, police said. No arrests were reported.

• Wal-Mart reported that a shoplifter stole merchandise valued at $10.

• Rex Harden, 600 block Jefferson Street, reported the theft of a girl’s black and pink bicycle valued at $74.

• Dollar General, 1936 Hwy. 133 S., reported Saturday that a man distracted employees while a woman concealed merchandise in a large purse then left the store.

A store employee told police that a couple matching their description attempted to return items to a Dollar General on First Avenue.

• Moultrie Inn, 1708 First Ave. S.E., reported Saturday that a flat screen television valued at $200 was stolen out of one of the rooms.

• Mary Livings, 53, Hartsfield, reported Sunday the theft of 18 newspapers out of a rack in the 500 block of Veterans Parkway South.

• Tony Overstreet, 900 block Second Avenue Southwest, reported Sunday that a female acquaintance had his Samsung flip phone and refused to return it.

• Petro, 1009 Fifth Ave., reported that a man walked out with a can of beer valued at $2 without paying for it.

• Pam Bartosh, 1300 block Fairview Drive, reported Sunday the theft of a bicycle valued at $500.

• Ashlie Watson, 600 block Eighth Avenue Northwest, reported Sunday the theft of a Del Rio Beach Cruiser bicycle valued at $134.

• Donna Lott, 200 block Old Timey Trail, reported Sunday the theft of two Echo weed trimmers valued at a total of $750.

• Laner Merchel Gay, 31, 183 Rufus Murphy Road, was charged Friday with failure to stop at stop sign and no insurance.

• Ashley Plymel, 53, 105 Old Tram Road, was charged Sunday with disorderly conduct.

• Marvin Lee Roberts, 50, was charged Sunday with theft by taking.

• Gabrielle Simone Bell, 21, 12835 Barney Hwy., Barney, was charged Friday with driving without license and possession of marijuana.

• Roderick Manuel Smith, 40, Moultrie, was charged Saturday with driving under the influence, failure to maintain lane and theft by receiving stolen property.

• Alejandro Vega, 58, 895 Smith Road, was charged Sunday with driving with suspended license.

• Kendreall Waters, 19 2434 Jacqueline Circle, was charged April 20 with destruction or removal of property subject to security interest.

• Katrina Lynn Young, 52, 233 Westwood Drive, was charged Friday with criminal damage to property.

• Mary Jackson, 400 block 31st Street Southeast, reported Sunday that her bathroom window was broken.

• Samuel Collins, 3100 block Veterans Parkway South, reported Saturday that a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe was struck by another vehicle.

• Tamika Madison, 700 block Fourth Street Southwest, reported Saturday that someone poured sugar on the trunk of her 2009 Ford Focus.

• Brandy Riggins, first block Norman Road, reported Saturday that a speed limit sign and tree were defaced.

• Shirley Williams, Quitman, reported Sunday that a 2001 Honda was damaged while parked in the 600 block of South Main Street.

• Raul Pena, 300 block Big Bear Boulevard, Norman Park, reported Friday that a female acquaintance cut his love seat, sofa and mattress multiple times and that a wooden pantry with mirrors in the kitchen was broken.

Moultrie Police

• Letherrio Farrell, 37, Moultrie, reported Friday that a female acquaintance grabbed him by his shirt, pulled him toward her and pointed a pistol at his head.

Angenique Johnson told police that as she was arguing with Farrell in a car she opened her glove box, revealing that she had a gun after he began using vulgar language toward her.

• Officers detained 13 juveniles in the 400 block of Hampton Way on Friday while responding to a report of a fight. The juveniles told police that they were “play fighting” and that there were no injuries.

No charges were filed and they were released to their parents.

• Susie Q’s, 135 U.S. Hwy. 319 S., reported Saturday a case involving counterfeit money.

• Wanda Hall, 900 block Fifth Avenue Southwest, reported Friday that a juvenile male relative threw things around the house and attacked an older relative.
