MOULTRIE — Finding information on home and land values got easier — and less expensive — with Colquitt County Commission’s subscription to a data base that provides detailed information about personal properties.
The qPublic subscription allows residents to access the information through the Colquitt County Tax Assessor’s web page.

It includes the latest tax valuation of land and buildings, descriptions of structures, photos and sketches, sales histories and other information. It allows a search for recent sales of surrounding homes as well.
“If someone wants to have an idea of recent sales in an area, it will give you a good idea of values in your neighborhood,” said Chuck Brooks, the county’s tax appraiser supervisor. “People can go in there and see what homes similar to theirs are bringing.”
Before the county paid for the service, the information available to the public was extremely limited except for those who purchased an expensive individual subscription, he said.
“It’s good for Realtors,” Brooks said. “It will stop a lot of traffic coming in the office, and it will be a convenience. It was really quite expensive for one person, so the county decided to set it up as a service.”
Residents also can use the system at any time of the day at their homes and will not be limited to the appraiser’s office during office hours.
Appraisers hope to keep the information as up to date as possible and hope to update about 7,000 entries per year, Brooks said.

County commissioners approved the roughly $5,000 annual subscription for the service earlier this month.
“A lot of the information on there was available to surrounding counties, but we just didn’t have it,” County Administrator Chas Cannon said. “We decided to pay the fee. It’s a great service (with) a lot more information that what was available. Anything to do with a piece of property, they can find it out.”
Users can search for properties based on address, owner name, parcel number or legal information and do sales searches.
To access the site, visit qpublic.net/ga/colquitt, which will bring up the Colquitt County Board of Tax Assesors page. From there, select “Search Records” to the upper left of the screen to bring up the property search menu.
