Feud grows into alleged assault

A Colquitt County man involved in an ongoing feud with another man ratcheted up the conflict by allegedly hitting his opponent in the head with a tool during a Thursday night gathering at a friend’s residence.
Paul Oliff, of the 100 block of Gay Road, told police that he was hanging out with friends at about 2 a.m. Friday in the 3600 block of Highway 33 South when the man hit him in the back of the head with a ratchet.
Witnesses told police that the attacker hit Oliff when the conversation turned to a previous fight between the two men.
Oliff had a large laceration to the back of the head, sheriff’s reports said. He was checked by emergency medical personnel but refused transport to the hospital.
The alleged assailant was not there when police arrived.
In another assault:
Katherine Kringle, Valdosta, made a report Thursday of a battery in the 1300 block of Roundtree Bridge Road, Norman Park.
Brandon Kringle told police that a male relative pushed him and hit him. Witnesses reported that the attacker got angry because Brandon Kringle and another male who lives at the residence came home on a four-wheeler.

• Lee Ray Walters, 22, 4749 Goodson Road, Camilla, was charged Wednesday with running red light and driving with suspended license.
• Collas Jermain Holton, 29, 109 29th Ave. N.W., was charged Wednesday with probation violation on a city of Ocilla warrant.
Sheriff’s Office
• Benjamin Edward Brightwell, 262 Earl Hall Road, was charged July 26 with disorderly conduct.
• Johnny Wade Gunn, 42, 704 Bonnie Tuck Road, was charged Thursday with theft of services.
• Juan Carlos Hernandez, 33, Green Street Lot 5, was charged Thursday with pedestrian under the influence.
• Pedro Hernandez Hernandez, 34, 421 Still Road, was charged Thursday with driving without license and defective equipment.
• Michael Dewayne Holt, 6406 Tallokas Road, was charged Thursday with theft by taking and theft by deception.
• Alvin Jake Singletary, 47, 202 21st Ave. N.E., was charged July 27 with simple battery.
• Stephanie Jarvis Williams, 32, 349 Wilburn Murphy Road, was charged Wednesday with two counts of simple assault.
Other agencies
• Leroy Horne, 46, 813 Third St. S.W., was charged Thursday with parole violation.
Thefts
Moultrie Police
• Margie Sumner, 65, Pavo, reported Wednesday the theft of a wallet containing $12 she left at a store in the 500 block of Veterans Parkway South.
The total value of the wallet, license and cards and other contents was $33.
• Rent-A-Center, 115 Talmadge Drive, reported Thursday that a customer who signed a contract on a 60-inch Vizio flat screen television and a home computer did not make any payments after the initial payment.
An employe told police the stolen property is valued at $3,473.
• Wal-Mart, 641 Veterans Parkway S., reported Thursday that two shoplifters stole merchandise valued at $449.
Police made two arrests and store personnel recovered the merchandise. Booking information was not available on Friday.
Entering auto
Moultrie Police
• Gary Swartzentruber, 1300 block Fourth Street Southwest, reported Thursday that a 2011 Toyota Sienna and a 2004 Nissan Titan XE were entered.
Police reports did not indicate whether anything was stolen.
• Pearline Richardson, 900 block Fourth Avenue Southeast, reported Thursday that somoen entered a locked 2005 Chevrolet Classic and searched through the glove box.
Nothing was taken.
Property damage
Moultrie Police
• Subrina Dixon, 2600 block Seventh Street Southeast, reported Thursday that someone scratched her 2012 Nissan Sentra and also apparently tried to enter the car.
The car had damage to the driver’s door consistent with someone trying to enter the car and scratches on the passenger door indicating another attempt to get inside, police said.
Dixon told police that her license plate was stolen.

Moultrie Police
• Joseph Fitzgerald, 200 block Tallokas Road, reported Thursday that a male acquaintance and several other people came to his residence four times during the night, ringing his doorbell and banging on the door on each occasion.
