Deputies arrested two burglary suspects on Friday when an alert neighbor provided a description of a truck that was stopped in the area a short time later.

Officers took the two men into custody and recovered one of two pistols reported stolen from the residence of Carol Calloway in the 300 block of Sangster Road, a Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office spokesman said.

Law enforcement was notified of a possible burglary at Calloway’s residence at about noon Friday.

“A neighbor saw the vehicle and what appeared to be suspicious activity,” sheriff’s Inv. Shawn Bostick said Monday. “When they left (the neighbor) checked the house and saw it had been broken into.”

A short time later a deputy driving on Cannon Road stopped a compact pickup truck occupied by Willie D. King, 26, of Burlington Avenue, Ellenton, and Justin Tyler Whitman, 20, 598 Hopewell Church Road.

Each was charged with one count of burglary and two counts each of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Officers believe that the men threw the guns out of the car, Bostick said. They found one of them during their investigation.
