A Moultrie man’s library visit was cut short when police determined his visit had nothing to do with reading or other services but instead was an apparent stop to take a drink.
An officer who responded at 3:30 Tuesday to Moultrie-Colquitt County Library, 204 Fifth St. S.E., found a man unresponsive sitting on a toilet seat in the men’s restroom, Moultrie Police Department reports said. The man, later identified as Toney Dewayne Striplin, was unresponsive.
Police found two whiskey bottles — one empty — on top of the toilet paper dispenser, reports said. Striplin appeared to be highly intoxicated and emergency medical service personnel were called to take him to the hospital, police reports said.
Striplin, 54, 224 Lakeshore Drive, was issued a subpoena on a charge of disorderly conduct.
