ROME, Ga. — Donald and JoAnne Waldrop of Rome, Ga., are proud to announce the engagement of their daughter, Sydney Josephine, to Brian Davis Berl. He is the son of Seth and Linda Berl of Moultrie.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Robert Gardner of Cavespring, Ga., and the late Josephine Gardner, and Brooksie Waldrop of Tallapoosa, Ga., and the late Eugene Waldrop.

A 2010 graduate of Rome High School in Rome, Ga., she received her Bachelor of Science in nursing, in 2014, from Georgia Regents University in Augusta, Ga., after transferring from the University of Georgia in Athens, Ga. She graduated summa cum laude. She is employed as a registered nurse in Augusta, Ga.

The future groom is the grandson of the late Wayne and Lois Jones, the late Melvin Berl, and the late Beverly Berl.

A 2009 graduate of Colquitt County High School, he received his Bachelor of Science in Education in exercise science, in 2013, from the University of Georgia in Athens, Ga. He graduated magna cum laude. He is in his second year of pursuing a physical therapy degree from Georgia Regents University in Augusta, Ga.

The wedding will be held Aug. 9, 2014, in Augusta, Ga.
