First Baptist Church, Stringfellow Elementary School officials and Mayor Bill McIntosh celebrated the retirement of Stringfellow’s principal, Darlene Reynolds, on Friday. Reynolds has been in education for 35 years — all but two of them at Stringfellow. She started out at Stringfellow as a student cadet. She then became a paraprofessional, 1st grade teacher and literacy coach before becoming assistant principal at R.B. Wright. Two years later, she was named principal of Stringfellow. ‘She is a living example to our students of setting your goals high and never giving up,’ said her assistant principal, Josh Purvis. From left are Purvis, former Stringfellow Principal Steve Godwin, Reynolds, the Rev. Wayne Woods of First Baptist Church, McIntosh and Colquitt County School Superintendent Samuel DePaul.
