Twenty years since the original Battle of The Bands hit Moultrie during 1994’s Festival On The Square, Moultrie’s Mainstreet Program is bringing the battle back.
The musical battle will be added to the Spring Fling and Backyard BBQ Festival’s lineup of artisans, crafters, and stage performances.
Spring Fling and Backyard BBQ Festival will take place in Downtown Moultrie, on April 19.
The event has expanded this year to make room for Battle of The Bands, extending the festival to the intersection of South Main and 2nd Ave.
The bands will set up at the end of that block, where audience and judges will be able to enjoy a variety of musical talents. Attendance as an audience member is free.
Judges James Huffman, Angelie Lipscomb, and Patrick Kunes will select the winners based on musicianship, creativity, originality, stage presence, and professionalism.
Prizes will include cash, a band photography package provided by Carrie Viohl, studio recording time from Studio D, and a Fender Guitar package provided by T.Halls.
Lipscomb said, “Moultrie has no shortage of talented performers from a variety of musical genres with even more blooming out from the encouragement of Beans & Strings. I’m excited to see Moultrie finally come alive with music and can’t wait to see it build up to its potential. As one of the judges for the Battle of the Bands event, I do believe we will have our work cut out for us.”
The bands will begin playing at 2 p.m., on South Main, in front of T.Halls.
Spots are still available for bands or solo artists that wish to participate.
Musicians wishing to participate should contact Eric at Beans & Strings at 229-985-0093 or visit http://beansandstrings.com/battle/.
