Doerun Ecumenical Council to meet

The Doerun Ecumenical Council (D.E.C.), and organization composed of area Christians whose goal is to serve the Doerun community and the surrounding area, held its first Fellowship Day. The organization distributed coats, sweaters, blankets and tennis shoes to those in need of them.

The next event was a community fellowship supper held on Saturday, Feb. 22, at the Doerun Community Center. All residents of the community were invited to attend.

The group will sponsor an Easter celebration at the City Park on Saturday April 12, which will have activities for the entire family. Everyone in the community is invited.

In April, the organization will open a clothes closet and food bank to serve anyone in need of assistance. The opening date for this is April 27.

The officers of the D.E.C. are Susan Beverly, president; Todd Lee, vice president; Connie McCoy, treasurer; Zell Banks, secretary; and Alice Slocumb, reporter.

The next regular meeting will be this evening, April 3, 6:30 p.m., at the Doerun United Methodist Church social hall. Anyone interested in joining is welcome.
