Union Missionary Baptist Church to hold Annual Women’s Day event

Union Missionary Baptist Church will observe their Annual Women’s Day at 3 p.m., on Sunday, March 23.

The guest speaker will be Sharon Pittman of Pavo, who is the daughter of the late Samuel Ryles and Lizzie Ryles. She attended St. John’s Holiness Church from an early age.

In 1988, she became a marital coordinator and host for many marital retreats. In 1994, she went into the ministry and was ordained by her bishop, Bishop Thomas Lee III of Orlando, Fla.

In 2002, the first Annual Women’s Conference was held in Norman Park, “to make a difference in the lives of other women.”

In 2013, Pittman began the Royal Princess Pageant, which is held annually with the goal of building self-esteem and confidence in women.

Pittman now attends Abundant Life Ministries, where she and her husband, Morris, have served for 24 years together in the ministry.

She has traveled to various areas in South Georgia, North Florida and the Northern States ministering through conferences, marital retreats and worships. She has ministered on the “Preach the Word” television show.

Pittman graduated from J.D. Price Theological Bible College, in Orlando, Fla., where she received her doctorate in theology.

She has four sons, two daughters and five grandchildren.
