High school students will get an opportunity to see what college life is all about on Feb.15 during the winter Stallion Day at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.  Registration begins at 8 a.m. in the Donaldson Dining Hall.

 “We are delighted to host prospective students and their families at Stallion Day,” said Brooke Jernigan, ABAC enrollment management counselor. “Visiting the campus can make or break a student’s decision on where they attend college, and we are certain that visiting on Stallion Day will confirm their decision to attend ABAC.”

Visitors can take tours guided by the ABAC Ambassadors from 8-9 a.m. followed by a welcome session. Two Conversation Corners will take place from 9:30-10:40 a.m.   The Student Conversation Corner will be held at various locations across the ABAC campus.  Visiting students will be able to choose two sessions on topics including student life, rural studies, nursing, biology, agriculture and natural resources, and the Honors Program.  There will also be a Parent Conversation Corner at the same time in Howard Auditorium.  Parents can ask questions of the experts about all phases of campus life.  

From 10:45-11:50 a.m., all visitors can go to the Stallion Marketplace in Gressette Gymnasium.  The Stallion Marketplace offers prospective students a look at over 50 programs of study including on-campus bachelor’s degrees in Biology, Social and Community Development, Politics and Modern Culture, Writing and Communication, Business and Economic Development, Diversified Agriculture, Turfgrass and Golf Course Management, Forestry, and Wildlife Management.  Tours of the campus will also be provided during this time.

A free lunch for the visiting students will be provided from noon – 1 p.m.  Meals are available for parents at a cost of $6 per person.  During the noon hour, high school seniors will have a chance to win a $235 housing waiver, a one-semester meal plan worth over $1,000, or a $500 tuition grant.  Those who have submitted official transcripts and official SAT/ACT scores could also receive on-the-spot admission to the college during the event.

Students and parents can then take advantage of sessions on financial aid and scholarship information, veterans’ affairs, and housing, as well as a tour of the ABAC Lakeside freshman housing complex from 1:15 – 3:30 p.m.
