GSP investigates 1 fatality, 12 other crashes in Colquitt County

State troopers from the Thomasville Post of the Georgia State Patrol investigated 13 traffic crashes during the month of January in Colquitt County.
Sgt. First Class Tommy Peeples III said the traffic crashes resulted in one traffic death.
Matthew Charles Garver, 21, died Jan. 28 when his vehicle didn’t stop at a stop sign on Perry Road and pulled into the path of a tractor trailer rig on Highway 133 near Berlin.
Peeples said troopers from Post 12 Thomasville also issued 60 traffic citations in the county during the month. The total includes 3 arrests for driving under the influence, 13 citations for speeding, 4 seatbelt violations, and 15 child restraint violations. Troopers also issued 128 warnings.
