Ronald “Ronnie” Lloyd Gibbs, of Cordele, Ga., died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014, at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon.
Funeral services will be held 4 p.m., today, Feb. 4, at the Cordele First Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Sunnyside Cemetery.
A native of Cordele and the son of the late Lloyd PIes Gibbs and the late Judy Newell Gibbs, he retired from Crawford & Company following 30 years of employment. He then worked for, and retired from, Independent Adjusters. Following his retirement, he loved spending time riding his green tractor and spending time on the family farm in Wilcox County, his family remarked. He also loved fishing, hunting and golfing with his buddies, they also said. He was a member of Cordele First Baptist Church and Pine Hills Country Club.
“Most of all, Ronnie loved his grandchildren,” his family remembered.
He is preceded in death by a grandson, Chance Gibbs.
Survivors include his wife, Tere Adams Gibbs of Cordele, Ga.; his children, Shannon Gibbs and his wife Rebecca of Canton, Ga., and Angela Smith and husband Mike of Cordele; his brothers, Jeff Gibbs and his wife Lisa of Tifton, Ga., and Harris “Sonny” Gibbs and wife Shirley of Ponce Inlet, Fla.; three grandchildren, Evan Smith, Shelby Gibbs and Tyson Gibbs; and several nieces and nephews.
The family received friends at the funeral home, from 6 until 8 p.m., on Monday.
