High school students will have an opportunity to get a glimpse of college life on Nov. 9 during Stallion Day at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.  Registration begins at 8 a.m. in the Donaldson Dining Hall.

“When a student visits a college campus, lots of questions come to mind,” said Brooke Jernigan, ABAC enrollment management counselor.  ‘“Do I fit in here?  Is my program of study available?  Are the faculty and staff friendly and approachable?’  When a student visits ABAC, all of those questions will be answered with an emphatic yes!”

Student visitors can take tours guided by the ABAC Ambassadors from 8-9 a.m. before taking part in hands-on learning experiences at various locations across campus from 9:30-10:30 a.m.  During that time, family members can attend a variety of different information sessions.

Gressette Gym will house the Stallion Marketplace from 10:40-11:50 a.m.  The Stallion Marketplace offers prospective students a look at over 50 programs of study including on-campus bachelor’s degrees in Biology, Social and Community Development, Politics and Modern Culture, Writing and Communication, Business and Economic Development, Diversified Agriculture, Turfgrass and Golf Course Management, Forestry, and Wildlife Management.

A free lunch for the visiting students will be provided from 11:50 a.m.–1 p.m.  Meals are available for parents and other family members at a cost of $6 per person.  During the noon hour, high school seniors will have a chance to win a $235 housing waiver, a one-semester meal plan worth over $1,350, or a $500 tuition grant.  Those who have submitted official transcripts and official SAT/ACT scores might also receive on-the-spot admission to the college during the event.

Conversation Corners will take place from 1-2 p.m. in the Health Sciences Building.  Campus visitors can choose two detailed information sessions during this time, which focus on areas such as home school, housing, student involvement, music, and the Honors and Rural Studies programs.  Parents are also welcome to attend.  Students and parents can find out more about how to cover the cost of college in financial aid sessions from 2–2:30 p.m.  

Tours of the ABAC Lakeside freshman housing complex will be available for everyone at 2:30 p.m.  Families can meet in the ABAC Lakeside Lobby for a tour.
