The event, held at the Moultrie-Colquitt County Parks and Recreation Department at the bike trail, is held to raise money for SHA Missions, a non-profit Christian organization dedicated to “Sharing Hope Around.”
The organization works with the Menzies Orphanage in Belize City and has another project in More Tomorrow, also in Belize.
The mission and run to help support it was started by friends and family of Sha Wetherington, an outstanding soccer player at Colquitt County High and Darton College, who died in June 2011 in a car wreck at age 22.
The Run 2 Remember had 10-kilometer and 5-kilometer races and a 1-mile fun run and walk.
Jose Trejo of Fitzgerald was overall winner of the 10K race, turning in a time of 44:40.
Tiffany Powell Nunnally of Thomasville was the first female to cross the finish line with a time of 50:26.
