Stewart wins Southern Outlaw class

Needless to say, it wasn’t your regular night of racing on Saturday at Needmore Speedway.
The highlight of the program was to be the invasion of the Southern Outlaw Super Street series and the cars and drivers didn’t disappoint the fans.
Andy Stewart led from flag to flag, but it was what was happening behind him that kept fans on the edge of their seats.
Lap after lap, it was fender-banging and paint-swapping as the Super Street drivers put on a show.
Justin Sapp finished second with Tyler Brown third.
In the Late Model feature, it looked like it was going to be a dog-fight for second place as Travis Carter quickly jumped out front and led all the way while regulars Gene Ross and ageless Lavon Sloan duked it out behind Carter for second, forgetting about Ronnie Lee Newsome running fourth.
Ross and Sloan went high out of turn two and Newsome quickly grabbed the second spot away and was going for the lead when he ran out of laps.
Ross and Sloan finished third and fourth.
Gene Maine took the checkered flag in the Limited class as he continues to dominate that division.
The ever-popular Hobby Class saw Leon Childs pick up the win followed by Randy Merwin and John Wesley.
It was two weeks ago when young Bryanna Vinent went air-borne in her car, hitting a berm and a barrel on the inside of the track, a crash that put her out of the race.
But Saturday’s Enduro feature was a “girls night out” as Vinent claimed the win followed by Leon Childs and Wesley Burke.
The Old School Late Model class continues to improve as six cars started the feature at with Robby Metts getting the win.
Lonnie Roberts was second with Jeffrey Summerlin, Chris Davis, Glen Duke and Skip Pannell rounding out the field.
Fans were treated to a small group of Outlaw Open wheel modifieds, a first for Needmore.
Dustin Elliott took the checkered flag, followed by Rick Culpepper, Jeff Culpepper and Mike Gonzalez.
Racing resumes Saturday, June 29, with gates opening at 4 p.m. Racing will start at 7 p.m.
