Stephen H. Bridwell, 60, of the Vada community, died Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at Mitchell County Hospital in Camilla, Ga.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Friday, May 17, at New Home Freewill Baptist Church #2, in Vada, with interment in the church cemetery. The Rev. Danny Smith and the Rev. Jimmy Hooks will officiate. Serving as pallbearers will be Garrett Foister, Cedric Shiver, Ashley Sapp, Reid Carr, Craig Foister, Andy Foister, Scott Bridwell and Cam Phelps.

Born Oct. 14, 1952, in Colquitt County, he was the son of the late Howard Lee Bridwell and Mildred May Hembree Bridwell. He was a former police officer and retired from Mitchell EMC after 30 years as a staking engineer.

He was preceded in death of his step-son, Marvin Barfield.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Foister Bridwell of Vada, Ga.; one brother, Mark Bridwell and wife Tina of Berlin; sisters, Linda Medlock and husband Bobby of Albany, Ga., Connie Saunders and husband Charlie of Alpharetta, Ga., Lori Jackson and husband Chris of Albany, Ga., and Lisa Phelps and husband Allen of Adel, Ga.; and nieces and nephews, Scott Bridwell, Charlie and Brooke Saunders, Sami Guerry, Amanda Hernandez, Cory and Brandy Bridwell, Corey Gilbert, Kayla Bridwell and Cam Phelps.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., today, May 16, at Parker-Bramlett Funeral Home in Camilla.
