Frances Cone Wood

Frances Cone Wood, 82, of Doerun, died Sunday, April 28, 2013, at her home.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 1, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Stanley Norman officiating, assisted by the Rev. Tom Rodgers. Interment will follow in Deep Bottom Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Richard Beasley, Jeff Wingate, Jay Wingate, Cody Bridges, Brent Wingate, Ricky Hartley, Branson Beasley and Steve Emory. Gage Emory and the deacons of Cool Springs Baptist Church will serve as honorary casketbearers.

Born May 11, 1930, in Norman Park, she was the daughter of the late Fabian Wright Cone and Mary Elizabeth McMullen Cone. She was a homemaker and a member of Cool Springs Baptist Church in Doerun.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. J.P. Wood Jr.; and one son, Larry Joe Wood.

Survivors include one son, Ansley Gerald Wood and wife Deborah of Sycamore, Ga.; one brother, Bobby Cone of Thomasville; one sister, Sue Adair of Thomaston, Ga.; a niece, Gayle Allen of Coolidge; and her special family, Bridget Emory and husband Steve and their son Gage Emory, all of Doerun and the Truitt Wingate family of Doerun.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., today, April 30, at Cobb Funeral Chapel.

Cobb Funeral Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.
