 Bruce Warren Everett, 59, of Gainesville, Fla., died Monday, March 4, 2013, at Shands Hospital of Gainesville, Fla.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, March 16, at Mother Easter Baptist Church, where the Rev. Freddie Castle is Pastor. The Rev. Fred Murrvin Sheppard of Gainesville, Fla., will serve as the officiating minister. Burial will follow in Strong Memorial Gardens with his nephews Dennis Wesley Alexander III of Miami, Fla., Andrew Kenneth Daniels of Atlanta, Don Dewayne Daniels of Nashville, Tenn., Kenneth Howell of Birmingham, Ala., Reginald Howell of Tuskegee, Ala., Kelvin Shedd of Atlanta and Stephon Everett of Moultrie serving as pallbearers. A repast will follow at the Agricultural Center located next to Moultrie Technical College.

He was born on Aug. 18, 1953, in Moultrie, to the late Rev. Lincoln Sr. and Charlie Mae Everett. He grew up as a member of a very close-knit family that had a strong fellowship within the church, and a deep abiding faith in God, his family remarked. Early in his life, he became a Christian and also a member of Friendship Baptist Church. He and his siblings, along with his parents attended Sunday school and worship services each Sunday and were active participants in all youth activities, especially the church choirs.

He attended the public schools of Moultrie and graduated from Colquitt County High School. He continued his education at the post-secondary level by enrolling at Albany State University.

“Bruce always had a deep passion and love for music. He performed with many bands during his lifetime, but always had time for the Lord by playing and directing many church choirs,” his family remembered of him.

 He was presently a member and served as Minister of Music of Mt. Bethel Baptist Church of Gainesville, Fla., with Pastor Murrvin Sheppard as his spiritual leader.

“The day before he was called home, he made an attempt to sing one last song,” his family said.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Sarah E. Daniels.

Survivors include four sisters, Addie E. Howell and husband retired Lt. Col. George Howell of Tuskegee, Ala., Christine E. Ellis and husband retired Lt. Col. Benjamin Ellis of Miami, Fla., Mary E. Ramey and husband Larry of Macon, Ga., and Dr. Lucille E. Collins and husband MacArthur of Miami, Fla.; one brother, Lincoln Everett Jr. and wife Allison of Miami, Fla.; and many devoted nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

The family greeted relatives and friends from 6 to 7 p.m., Friday, March 15, at Strong Funeral Home, LLC.
