Man injured in fight, now faces charges

A Moultrie man, who faces charges in a Tuesday dispute, was arrested Wednesday after receiving medical treatment.

Timothy Lee Barrett, 26, 692 26th Ave. S.E., was charged with battery in the fight at about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 600 block of 26th Avenue Southeast. William Earl Barrett, 40, was arrested the previous day on a battery charge.

Police said that Timothy Barrett reported that William Barrett hit him with a metal pipe and punched him. Timothy Barrett had injuries to his head and was taken to Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville.

Witnesses said that the fight started when Timothy Barrett pushed over William Barrett’s bicycle and the latter hit Timothy Barrett with a stick. During the fight William Barrett also was hit with the stick, the witnesses told police.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office in Tennessee notified Moultrie police that it will extradite Timothy Barrett after the disposition of his case in Moultrie.

A spokeswoman at the sheriff’s office did not return a call Thursday seeking information about the nature of the Tennessee charges.

• Tory Gregory Massey, 22, 2219 Sylvester Drive, was charged Wednesday with probation violation.

• William Richard Gandy, 55, 421 Old Norman Park Road, Norman Park, was charged Wednesday with public drunk.

• Tevin Sheikell Hightower, 17, 706 Coventry Circle, was charged Wednesday with probation violation.

• Joseph Lynn Gay, 43, 291 J.W. Wingate Road, was charged Wednesday with probation violation.

• Dalton Ray Jones, 21, 717 1/2 Hillcrest Ave., was charged Wednesday with failure to appear.

Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office

• Marty Lee Eyer, 919 Second St. S.E., was charged Wednesday with failure to appear.

Norman Park Police Department

• Antonio Pernell Woodard, 473 Massey Airport Road, Sylvester, was charged Wednesday with probation violation.

Thefts

Moultrie Police Department

• Bud Johnson, 300 block 10th Street Southeast, reported Wednesday the theft of a Weed Eater push lawn mower valued at $70.

• Jacqueline Hunter, 900 block 12th Avenue Southeast, reported Wednesday the theft of a purse and identification cards during a burglary of her residence.

Hunter told police that someone pushed the chain lock from the wall to gain entry through the back door.

Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office

• Michael Stone, 400 block U.S. Highway 319 North, reported Wednesday the theft of a water heater from the 1200 block of Doc Darbyshire Road.

Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office

• Stephen Jones, 600 block Albert Brady Road, Lenox, reported Wednesday that someone tried to open a credit card account in his name using his personal information and Social Security number.

• Sandy Miller, 900 block Jonah Tillman Road, reported a prowler was at the residence at about 11 p.m.

Miller told the officer that she heard the dogs barking, and when she looked out she saw the silhouette of a man near the rear deck. The man ran away on a path at the rear of the house.

Ann Griner, 300 block Bobby Griner Road, reported that someone attempted to cash a check taken during an August break-in at her residence for $5,280.
