South Georgia Hawgs teams win debuts

Three of the South Georgia Hawgs Pop Warner Football teams made their debuts on Saturday and all got shutout victories.
The three games were part of first Georgia-Florida Classic, which included seven games at Tom White Field at Mack Tharpe Stadium.
Teams from Moultrie, Thomasville and Lee County faced teams from Panama City, Fla.
The day started at 9:30 a.m. with two Tiny mite games on split fields.
At 11 a.m, the Thomasville Pride met the Lee County Warriors in a Midget division game.
The South Georgia Hawgs Junior Midget team then made quick work of Panama City, winning 28-0.
Scoring touchdowns for the Hawgs were Jaquan Willis, Tory Ponder, Ty’Quarius Leggett and Tyran Shealey.
“We’ve got a lot of work to do, but we can be a good team,” said coach Todd Myrick.
Also playing for the Hawgs Junior Midget team were Will Snipes, Timothy Brinson, Trent Montgomery, Quan Blackwell, Jayden Merritt, Robert McCoy III, Cedric Martin, Marcus Anderson, Aaron Pearon, Daijun Edwards, Billy Rushing and Thomas Barry.
After the Thomasville Pride and Lee County Warriors Pee Wee matchup, the Hawgs Mitey Mites met Panama City and came out with 6-0 victory.
Omar Daniels scored the only touchdown of the game.
Also playing for the Tim Sanders-coached Hawgs Mitey Mites team were Za’Karion Edwards, Charlie Broome, Kenyon Solomon, El’Driquez Silas, Jason Brown, Iquavien Grier, Nicholas Pace, Amarius Pace, Tajh Sanders, Chase Niezek, Fredrick Howard, My’Quaries Andrews, Parker Kinard, Rahiem McBride, Pershaun Fann, Jackson Avera, Tyler Montgomery, Desmond Reese, Demetrius Enoch, Jamad Willis, Willie Almond, Fletcher Jacobs, Will Zember, Cameron Strange, Dylan Holweger, Todd Myrick, Taye Carolina and Willie Almond.
The Hawgs Junior Pee Wee team completed the sweep with an 18-0 victory over Lee County.
Desmond Davis scored two touchdowns and Montavius Ponder had the other.
The rest of coach Sandy Knighton’s Junior Pee Wee Hawgs are Carter Boatwright, Jared Collum, Mar’Nygee Edwards, Taylor Hamm, John Melvin Herndon, Gabe Horne, Hunter Kebler, Vendarion Knighton, Chase Lloyd, Tyler Meads, Alek Rosales, Levi Stanfill, Gavin Steptoe, Blake Tillery, Lucas Tostenson, Ny’Quann Washington, Lemeke Brockington and Darius Monts.
Four games featuring South Georgia Hawgs Pop Warner Football teams are scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. next Saturday at the stadium against the Lee County Wolverines.
