Nestor Lopez-Chavez, of Third Avenue Southeast, was treated and released, according to a Colquitt Regional Medical Center spokeswoman.

Lopez-Chavez was the driver of a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu that collided with a 1998 Ford Taurus at North Main Street and First Street Northeast, according to Moultrie police. The driver of the Taurus, Amber Nicole Owens of Bainbridge, was not taken to the hospital.

Police said Owens was stopped at the stop sign on First Street Northeast, preparing to cross North Main, and Lopez-Chavez was driving north on Main Street approaching the intersection. According to a witness, Owens didn’t see the Malibu, she pulled from the stop sign, and the Taurus’s front end struck the Malibu’s passenger side.

Owens was charged with failure to yield after stopping at a stop sign.
