Bad weather postpones recreation tournaments

Turner Sircy delivers a pitch for Quality Employment during the first round of the Midget League baseball tournament.
Bad weather caused the postponement of the Moultrie-Colquitt County Parks and Recreation Department’s Midget and Farm League tournaments on Tuesday.
The tournament will resume today at the Magnolia Sports Complex.
In the Midget League tournament, Southwest Georgia Insurance will face Hutchinson-Traylor at 6 p.m. and Mobley Plant will play Southwest Georgia Bank at 7:30 p.m.
In the Farm League tournament, Ameris will play Southwest Georgia Bank at 6 p.m. and Farm Bureau will play regular-season champion and undefeated Paradise Pool and Patio at 7:10 p.m.
The winners will advance to Thursday’s championship games, which will be played at 6 p.m.

Hutchinson-Traylor advanced on Monday with a 13-3 victory over Ameris.
Cory Newsome was the winning pitcher and went 3-for-3 at the plate.
Raines Plant went 4-for-4; Tanner Wilson had three hits, including a home run; Ian Caulder had a double; and Jed Hart had a single for Hutchinson-Traylor.
Lane Webb had a base hit for Ameris.
Southwest Georgia Insurance advanced when it eliminated Quality Employment by a 10-7 score.
Henry Daniels was 3-for-3; Reese Bledsoe and Jared Taylor each had two hits’ and Alex Bledsoe and Carson Johnston each had one hit for Southwest Georgia Insurance.
Brandon Dean and Turner Sircy each had two hits and Will Rykard and Je’Dacus Ward each had one for Quality employment.
Mobley Plant moved on when it defeated Davis Insurance by the football score of 17-14.
Scott Knight was the winning pitcher and also had two hits, including a grand slam.
Ryan Hood went 4-for-4; Mack Crosby, Hunter Kubiak
