Darton half-mile teams

The Darton College men’s and women’s half-marathon teams finished 9th and 13th, respectively, at the NJCAA half-marathon championships in Atlanta on Saturday. Jeronda Stringfield, Hayden Clapper and Vanessa Pina composed Darton’s first women’s half-marathon team. The trio scored 31, 32 and 33, respectively. Stringfield, a freshman from Pensacola, led the Lady Cavs and set the school record, finishing 13.1 miles in 1:41:43. Clapper, a freshman from Oviedo, Fla., finished in 1:42:11. Local, Leesburg-native Pina, also a freshman, finished in 1:42:11. Moultrie sophomore Heath Lamb led Darton’s second appearance at the men’s half-marathon championship. He finished in 1:15:08 to score 38 points and set a school half-marathon record. Freshman Hank Campbell, of Guyton, finished in 1:15:53 to score 42 and sophomore Nathan Norton finished 1:16:51 to score 45 points. The Darton men tallied a team score of 125 points, and the women’s program scored 96.
