Bainbridge Junior Championships

Andrew Harvin (18U), Bo Blalock (18U) and Lance Shealy (14U) played in the Bainbridge Money Tree Junior Championships on October 1 and 2. Harvin drew the eventual 18U champion Sam Slade from Alpharetta in the first round and lost a hard-fought match 4-6, 5-7. He then defeated Billy Grimsley from Colquitt 6-0, 6-1 and Aaron Lipat from Savannah 6-1, 6-1 to win the consolation draw. Blalock won his first round match over Stone Inlow from Bainbridge 6-1, 6-0, but then lost a tough three-hour three-set match to the No. 1 seed Michael Bailey from McDonough 4-6, 6-4, 2-6. He then lost the match for third place to Kenneth Cazort from Macon 2-6, 0-6. Shealy lost to Alec Aliabadi from Dothan 1-6, 2-6 in the first round. He then defeated Nour Hasona from Bainbridge 6-4, 6-3, before losing to Peter Whitehurst from Dothan 2-6. 2-6. The next USTA area junior tournament is the Sunbelt Classic Junior Championships at Packer Park on October 22-23. Above are, from left, Blalock, Shealy and Harvin.
