Jewell Boyd Cooper, 84, of Moultrie, died Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011, at Park Regency.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 24, at Cobb Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memory Gardens. Casketbearers will be Brandon Reynolds, Will Pollard, Luke Sadler and Jimmy “Buddy” Sloan Jr. Honorary casketbearers will be employees of Park Regency and Southern Care Hospice.
Born April 23, 1927, in Moultrie, she was the daughter of the late Irvin Boyd and Hattie Mims Boyd. She was a retired seamstress with Riverside Manufacturing Co. and was a member of Kingwood Baptist Church. After her retirement, she was a volunteer with the Food Bank and the Pink Ladies at Colquitt Regional Medical Center. She was also the activity director for the Sonlighters of Kingwood Baptist Church.
“She was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother,” her family said. “She loved the Lord and helping others. She will also be remembered as a fantastic cook.”
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Johnnie Goldman Cooper; and one son, Jimmie Gary Cooper.
Survivors include one daughter, Sherry Cooper Peacock and husband Bill of Moultrie; one grandson, Stephen Michael Reynolds and wife Julie of Doerun; one granddaughter, Lori Peacock Sadler of Tifton, Ga.; three great-grandsons, Will Pollard of Moultrie, Brandon Reynolds of Doerun and Luke Sadler of Tifton, Ga.; one brother, John Boyd and wife Barbara of Moultrie; one sister, Mary Lou Braswell of Berlin; a sister-in-law, Joyce Norman and husband Wyman of Moultrie; a brother-in-law, Hubert Bernard Cooper of Warner Robins, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., today, Sept. 23, at Cobb Funeral Chapel.
