The Moultrie-Colquitt County Parks and Recreation Department has announced it has received a grant from the DeLoache Foundation, managed by Southwest Georgia Bank, to assist with tennis court improvements at the Lynda Baxter Moseley Tennis Complex.
The $27,000 grant will be combined with other donations to allow the department to repair and resurface four of the eight competition courts at the highly-used tennis complex.
Tennis court contractors are currently making repairs to the courts and will continue until around Friday, Sept. 30.
During this construction period, a minimum of two courts will be closed while leaving the remaining four to six courts open for public use, depending upon construction progress.
Those visiting the courts are asked to refrain from entering or disturbing courts that are locked or without nets because they will be under renovation and not ready for foot-traffic or competitive play.
Fundraising efforts have already begun to raise an additional $40,000 to resurface the remaining courts.
Anyone who would like to make donations to help fund this effort or more information can contact department director Terry Peek at 890-5429.
