Sarah Jane Turner Carr, 75, of New Jersey, formerly of Moultrie, died Thursday, July 7, 2011, at Innova Care in Deptford, N.J.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 14, at Union Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. R.O. Calhoun officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethlehem Schley Church Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
She was born on July 13, 1935, in Colquitt County, to the late Amos Turner and the late Rosetta Turner. She was employed with Riverside until she retired. She was a faithful member of Union Baptist Church, where she served as an usher and a member of the choir, where she served as president in the past. She also was a member of the Progressive’s Women’s Club. She was a loving mother and grandmother her family remembered of her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jefferson C. Carr Sr.; her parents; and one son, Marcus B. Carr.
Survivors include three sons, Marvin L. Carr, Jefferson C. Carr Jr. and Anderson Carr; two daughters, Linda Carr Onyenaka and Catheryn G. Oliver; five brothers, John D. Turner, Amos Turner Jr., Eddie Turner, John W. Turner and Freddie Turner; three sisters, Martha J. Green, Annette Turner and Mary Ann Turner; seven grandchildren, Braheim, Julian and Jule Leah Oliver, Odichimma, Bernadette and Amanda-Jay Onyenaka and Tavares Ward; five great-grandchildren; and a host of cousins and friends.
