12-and-under Packers place second in Leesburg

The Colquitt County Pack 12U baseball team took runner-up honors at the USSSA Bat Buster Tournament on April 30 in Leesburg.
After falling to the Sport Specific Knights from Albany 10-5 in game one, the Pack came back to conclude pool play with a 6-3 win over the Cordele Nationals.
Austin Craven was the winning pitcher going four innings and striking out 11. Griffin Simmons got the save.
In the first round of the tournament, the Pack again defeated the Nationals by a score of 13-4.
Buck Blalock was the winning pitcher going the distance and striking out eight.
Next up in the semifinals were the top-seeded Southern Saints from Donalsonville, whom the Pack defeated 14-4.
Wheeler Hunnicutt was flawless on the hill and got the win facing the minimum in 2 innings with 4 strikeouts.
Noah Moore and Griffin Simmons also pitched to secure the win.
In the championship game, the Pack faced a tough Tallahassee Heat team and lost 4-1 despite a strong pitching effort from Craven and Hunnicutt.
Until the championship game, the Pack had little trouble at the plate, hitting .417 with 13 home runs. Hunnicutt had 12 hits, two home runs and a double.
Hayden Bledsoe had six hits and four home runs; Logan Wheeler had six hits and was stellar behind the plate; Blalock had five hits, one home run and two doubles; Ian Brinson had five hits and three home runs; Craven had six hits and two home runs; Simmons had three hits and one home run; Geoffrey Zeigler added three hits; Chason Fannin had two hits; and Owen Harrell had one.
Jacob Coots and Austin Craven had the defensive plays of the game from right field when they fielded would-be base hits and threw the batters out at first.
