Wallace J. Croft, 73, of Moultrie, died Friday, April 29, 2011, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, May 2, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Danny Moree and Cathy Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Casketbearers will be John Chastain, Earl Powell, Jack Alderman III, Mike Sanchez, Timmy Radney and Phillip Brinson.

Born Oct. 14, 1937, in Berlin, he was the son of the late Floyd Lee Croft and Gladys Pyles Croft. He was a millwright with Daniels Construction Company, a master sergeant paratrooper in the United States Army and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Ruth Ann Croft of Moultrie; one son, Jackie Croft and wife Dana of Moultrie; two granddaughters, Holly Turvey and husband Jim of Columbia, S.C., and Alanna Croft and friend Michael Vest of Moultrie; three great-grandchildren, Taylor, Kaitlyn and Madison Pafford of Columbia, S.C.; two sisters, Mary Merritt and husband Gene of Berlin and Phyllis Carter of Cordele, Ga.;  one brother, Diamond Croft of St. Petersburg, Fla.; special brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, James and Cindy Croft of Adel, Ga., Horace and Grace Croft of Moultrie, Louie and Darlene Croft of Moultrie, Frank Croft of Morven, Ga., and Bea Chastain of Moultrie; several nieces and nephews;  and special friends, Jack “Loran” Adams of Berlin and Harold and Betty Bradley of Branford, Fla.

The family will receive friends Sunday, May 1, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Cobb Funeral Chapel.
