Officer faces charge

A Moultrie police investigator was placed under arrest following an alleged domestic dispute Wednesday night.
Cpl. Jason Wayne Cavin, 34, of 54 Pine Valley Circle, was charged with false imprisonment (family violence). A Moultrie police officer responded to a call of a domestic dispute involving Cavin at a house on Pine Valley Circle about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. He was taken to the Moultrie Police Department for questioning and was placed under arrest and charged about 1:50 a.m. Thursday and was taken to Colquitt County Jail.
The police department requested an investigation into the alleged incident by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. (GBI) No other information about the alleged incident was available as of Friday afternoon.
Cavin had served as an investigator and as a patrol officer with the Moultrie Police Department. Moultrie City Manager Mike Scott said Cavin was placed on suspension without pay pending the outcome of the GBI investigation.
