A life lesson

Email newsletter signup

“I want to add my two cents about the ‘fairness’ when it comes to sports. The reality is that some sports are more popular than others and in South Georgia it’s football. You cannot force a sport to be popular. It has nothing to do with fairness. Some sports simply are not spectator oriented.

“That’s not to say a kid should not go out for a less popular sport. But he should do it with the understanding that he will not draw a big crowd. Life works that way. So just consider the fact that there won’t be a special center built for wrestling as a life lesson. As someone already has said, it’s not right or wrong, it just is.”

In response

“What sport are men forced to get in a ring and fight till one is dead? I watch all the major sports networks daily and have not seen this. Defending Vick is no better than defending a murderer or child molester, says  a lot about your lack of character.”

Flawed logic

“Your point about Michael Vick’s dog fighting and man-to-man combat in a ring is terribly flawed. Men have choices. The dogs don’t. Man is supposed to be the higher animal, but sometimes we struggle to collect that evidence. When it comes right down to it, I don’t really care what two men do to each other in a ring of unnecessary combat. Like I said, they could choose not to do it.”

Health issue

“The next time you visit your favorite restaurant or fast food establishment make note of the amount of tasteable salt that is used in the preparation of food. How can we curb obesity or other medical problems that can occur from the use of too much sodium?”

A rebate

“Instead of transferring electrical funds to CNS which suppose to be a profit making entity,  It is time the City of Moultrie to consider rewarding it’s electrical customers with an end of the year rebate like EMC and Georgia Power.

“Just a thought.”

You are right

“Dear Wish List, you are so right. If the other sports got just a 1/3 of what is given to football I think the athletic program would be better. The softball/baseball did get a an indoor hitting facility but it is the basic facility; very nice none the less.

” I wish many others felt the same way we do. Maybe by the time I have grandkids things will be different (probably not).”

Great job

“Great job to Amy, Tina, and the rest of the Downtown staff! Our family had so much fun at the snow day downtown Sunday.

The community came out and everyone had a good time!”
