VSU to host migrant education program

Valdosta State University will host the Georgia Migrant Education Program to bring together educational institutions, organizations, and individuals to improve migrant students’ academic and social achievement. Part of the Georgia Department of Education Strategic Plan, the event will be held in the University Center Magnolia Room from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 13, and from 9 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 14.

Through inclusion techniques and multicultural diversity training, the conference will explore ways to increase enrollment as well as high school and university retention and graduation rates. Topics covered during the conference include: priority for student services, scholarship programs, diversity recruiting, Title I requirements, options for undocumented students, and financial aid opportunities.
